Match Report.
East Fremantle 1 – Peel United 1
The Peel United Socials Division Two started off their year with a hard fought 1 all draw. Peel started the game well, with some beautiful one touch football lead by Nat Bolt and Ryan Young in the center of midfield. This build up play paid off with a lovely wide ball played to Cade Jordan on the left wing. Cade, playing his first game in 100 years, wiped in a long cross for Pappy to put away in the bottom right hard corner. East Freo 0, Peel United 1.
Peel United started to dominate play being led by Declan (Chaps Junior) in the center of midfield with his high work rate and strong challenges. With Peel on top, East Freo was playing on the counter attack. Some good lead up work by them led to a penalty. Jordy’s small push had the referee pointing to the spot. Lucky for United and Keeper Big K, the penalty was sent over the bar.
With Chaps, Big Joe, Jordy and Kado all putting in a strong defense display, Peel looked like they would put another couple away. However, United couldn’t make the most of their opportunities putting some sitters wide. Some shooting practice is needed Chaps. At half time, Captain, Coach and Pres, Chaps rallied the troops and was excited about the great defensive effort from the boys.
Just after half time, East Freo rallied and finally put one past Big K. East Freo 1, United 1. With Bodie Treeeeeeebrek, leading the front and making his long awaited return after, United rallied but couldn’t hit the back of the net. Bodie was unlucky, hitting the post and missing a couple of close opportunities. In the final 10 minutes, United dominated possession, however, couldn’t find the winner, with Papp missing a sitter, one on one with the keeper and Justin’s long shot being saved at the near post.
In the end United couldn’t get the winner they deserved. Well done to all the boys for a great effort and a great start to the season. Special mention goes to Jordy for his solid performance in the backline and Nat Bolt for his man of the match performance in the center midfield.
